HOSPITALITY OCCUPATIONS (see also Hospitality Trades)
Hospitality covers many different occupations in the tourism, hotel and catering industries. Many employers are seeking staff with at least TAFE NSW Institute level qualifications.
FOOD TRADES
Trade classifications include:
· Baking Trade (Baking)
· Baking Trade (Breadmaking)
· Baking Trade (Pastrycooking)
· Cookery Trade (Eastern)
· Cookery Trade (Western)
· Meat Processing Trade (Retailing)
No formally recognised trade papers are required to work in the food industry. However, if you want formal trade recognition, the Vocational Training Tribunal (VTT) can assess your skills and provide you with a trade certificate.
Membership of a professional association or union may assist with employment opportunities.
RECOGNITION PROCEDURES
Apply directly to employers for a job. The employer will decide whether to accept the skills and/or qualifications for the job.
If formal trade recognition is required to gain employment, apply to the Vocational Training Tribunal (VTT) for a trade certificate.

BRIDGING/REFRESHER COURSE
TAFE NSW offers a Bread Manufactures Refresher Course, which provides an introduction to Australian methods and standards of bread making. The course is for migrants with overseas qualifications and experience.
